1 min readRenowned singer and musician Kavita Krishnamurti was honored with the Mohammed Rafi Award at an event by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari. The Dola Re Dola and Aaj Main Upar singer was suffering from a bad back pain, so her husband and musician and violinist Dr L Subramaniam received the award.
Krishnamurti said, “It’s a great honour to receive the Mohd Rafi Award from Spandan Arts. Rafiji was an iconic singer and I feel extremely humble accepting this award.”
BJP MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar’s organisation ‘Spandan’ annually honours a veteran artist in the field of music with the Jeevan Gaurav and Mohammad Rafi Award in his memory on his birthday. This is the fourteenth year of the award. The Rafi Award is in the form of cash and insignia.
Mohammad Rafi’s family stays in Bandra and in their presence MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar organises the grand award ceremony at Rangsharda auditorium. Over the past thirteen years, many dignitaries, who have worked with Mohammed Rafi have been honoured with this award.
The 14th Mohd Rafi Award ceremony, even this year, was held at Rangsharda, Bandra West and the award was presented by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.
Earlier, composer Anandji, singer Amit Kumar and veteran singers Asha Bhosale, Suresh Wadkar, Shamshad Begum, composer Ravi, Shailendra Singh, Naushad Ali, Pyarelal, Suman Kalyanpur, Anuradha Paudwal, Khayyam, Shrikant Thackeray and many other eminent artists have received this award.
